The next block has arrived from the Crazy Quilt round robin group. This is Wendy’s block before I add my work to it. This time around the stitches to play with are chevron and French knots.
Now I have to put my thinking cap on and see how I can use the stitches creatively on this piece. The first thing that comes to mind is a cluster of french knots in many colours, perhaps another butterfly? I will post again when the stitching is underway.

Hi Carol,
many thanks for the tips on bullion roses. I am making a convict bonnet as part of the project ” Roses From The Heart” which remembers the 25,266 women pioneers who were transported to Austalia as convicts ( see http://www.christinahenri.com.au ). I really wanted to work some bullion roses but I have never done them before and have not done any embroidery at all since I was in primary school (over 40 years ago !) I was just about to give up as my efforts looked so disgusting – even though I followed the instructions in my Readers’ Digest sewing handbook.
Having found your tips I am now able to produce professional looking roses.
